These ruffle shorties have been a favorite among my testers!

* I love to use any knit for these shorties, french terry is extra cozy but still works great for summer! Woven can be used as well but you may want to add some length in the rise
* 1-1 1/4" elastic
* Drawstring (optional)
* 3/8" braided elastic or elastic thread (shirring method only)

Troubleshooting:
- If the whole pattern prints on a single page, you likely opened the wrong file (use Letter/A4, not A0 or Projector).
- If lines look fuzzy or misaligned, try “Print as image,” make sure your printer driver is up to date, and restart your computer.

Love this pattern. So easy to follow and perfect for a beginner. This was my first time making shorts with elastic like this and it was so simple. Can’t believe I haven’t done it before now! I’ll absolutely be purchasing the other shorts patterns, and probably a whole lot more as well!

These are so adorable for any little girl , the pattern is awesome , the instructions are so easy to follow ,this was a fast and easy sew!
These turn out well and fit great. Because of the fullness, its easier to do a traditional elastic casing in the waist and adding to the leg opening will allow you to do a traditional casing there, too, and cover the elastic.

These are so quick and simple to make! I have only made them using the elastic thread and shirring the leg openings because I love the soft look of the ruffle. LOVE these shorties!

Probably my current favourite pattern!! It’s such an easy sew which I really enjoy, and it’s sooo stinking cute!
Such a cute pattern! I changed from the suggested 1-1.25” elastic in the waist to a paper bag style waistband bu using 3/8” elastic. I also did a roller hem on the leg edges instead of a regular hem.
Love this sweet little pattern. A fast sew which is always a win. I love it paired with the ruffle peplum.

Great, easy pattern thanks, I have made a couple of pairs with shirring elastic
I loved learning the method of shirring!
I've sewn these up once, and based on my 11 month old baby's measurements I had to mash between 2 sizes - 2T in width and 9-12m in length. I left the leg openings at the 2T size because I figured that was the size that made up for her chunk, but when it was all sewn up it fit great in the waist but the leg openings are too big. Not a huge deal and still super cute, but figured I'd mention that because it might be helpful with a pattern like this to include a thigh measurement in the size chart. Also, when constructing the waistband my coverstitch did NOT like sewing over the elastic and gathers, so I think in the future I'll add some height to the pattern and simply sew a casing for the elastic.
These are the cutest little shorts EVER!!! I love that they can be made in woven as well.

I made a whole pile of these for my 3.5yo for vacation and they were such a quick sew once I figured out how to ruffle with elastic thread in my machine bobbin. I actually LOVE that each pattern seems to teach me a new sewing technique that I’ve never attempted before!! The tutorials are great and with YouTube on the side occasionally for my particular machines, there isn’t anything LK that I haven’t been delighted with the results!
Since I’ve purchased this pattern I cannot stop making them! The ruffle shorties are simple to put together with easy, user friendly instructions. I love how they pair with almost any style top. We’ll be wearing them all summer!
