Adult Surf Shorts
The surf shorts are an awesome pattern for chilling at the beach, swimming, or even for a nice dinner! Though you can use any knit or woven fabrics (with a few small adjustments for woven), this pattern was designed with stretch boardshort or woven in mind. With a faux fly and working pockets, these shorts are a perfect grab for almost any occasion!
The adult version of these shorts is a little less slim fitting than the kids version. Please read through the instructions, check measurements, grade as needed and make a muslin before cutting your good fabric! Available in sizes XXS-5X based on men's size chart.
Options :- 4, 6 or 8" inseam

XXS - S : 1 yard /1 meter
M - XL : 1 1/4 yards /1.25 meters
XXL - 5XL : 1.5 yards/ 1.5 meters
Materials:
- Stretch Boardshort or Stretch Woven - my favorite fabric to use for this pattern
is stretch boardshort fabric (when swimming). Stretch woven works great
for every day shorts and depending on the contents could work for swimming
as well.
Another option is non stretch boardshort or regular woven but if you use non
stretch, I highly recommend adding an extra 1/4” (.6cm) to the pattern pieces
and then use a 3/8” (1cm) seam allowance while sewing. See page 8 of the instructions for more details!

Amazing, easy to follow instructions and pictures. It was nice to have both elastic and drawstring combo as it's what my Fiancé loves. I would like to extend the height at the top of the pattern a bit more for his perfect fit but it was so nice to make the matching kids set.

Get pattern easy to follow and perfect fit
I have been sewing for years and my 6 year old son and I have tons of me-made pieces in my wardrobe. My husband has been difficult to sew for successfully, but I’ve taken intermittent stabs at it anyway because I’d love to be able to sew for my whole family! This was the first thing I have made him that he tried on and kept on and then proceeded to wear in public twice in the first week of owning them. I’ve already ordered more fabric to make him a couple more pairs! I graded between 4 sizes to get him the right fit but found that simple enough with this clear pattern. He loved the inseam options and I loved not having to guess at it with multiple length cut lines.
Has different length options and my husband loves the shorts!

Made these up for my hubby for a family trip. It was to easy to grade the pattern between sizes, as he wanted more leg room.
Appreciate the different length options for my husband! This style is exactly what he was looking for. We used prairie love knits board short fabric and my husband has worn them every chance he gets!
